The LAST THING I have to draw for the Oz book is the art for the endpapers. Here’s the inks, with some cleanup yet to do. I’ll show you more progress shortly!
It’ll be the same spread on the front and back endpapers, and there’s a spot on the left-hand page (inside front cover) where I think the bookplate can fit nicely.
Two tiny little spot illustrations to round out the book. The Dorothy-and-Toto goes on the title page.
Finished all of the typesetting recently, so here’s some previews so you can get an idea of what the insides of the book look like. The jagged edges on the illustrations are just how InDesign renders images and don’t reflect the print quality.
Still struggling with the little “afterword” thing about Baum, and whether or not I should put any comments re: my approach to the project. Almost done with that though.
The Wizard of Oz Illustrated book got mentioned in a Kickstarter newsletter yesterday, so it’s BLOWN UP over the past day and all of the stretch goals I’d initially put up have been passed! I gotta come up with MORE now!
So this book will have foil stamping on the cover, a ribbon bookmark, and art on the endpapers. what else though!

The Kickstarter for the book has LAUNCHED!
Here’s a recap of the chapter illustrations for chapters 1 through 8 of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the first third of the book! I am very happy with these, and the wide range of color schemes and tones they represent.
I will be done with this project fairly soon, after working on it (off and on) for over a year. 24 full-page illustrations like these, and somewhere around 70 spot illustrations. A print book is being thought of; details will be on this blog before they’ll be anywhere else!
We’re about halfway through the Kickstarter!!! And approaching the first push goal, which will mean foil-stamped text on the cover of the book.

Two versions of the bookplate for the Wizard of Oz book! The left one will have a border and text in silver foil, and the right one in gold. I’m thinking that everyone who gets one book with a bookplate will get the left one, and everyone who gets two will get one of each. They’ll be signed under the line.

The Oz book is FUNDED AND HAPPENING
I’ve come up with some push goals for this project, as we go over goal. I’d like to focus on adding value to the books to start with. I really have no idea what to expect from this point on, and I’m mostly just excited that we made the goal so quickly! Thank you everyone.
At $25,000, the text on the cover and spine will be in silver foil, instead of white ink.
At $30,000, the book will have a ribbon bookmark in a blue like the blue cloth on the cover.
At $35,000, I’ll do new art for the endpapers of the book.
